Grow the Vision
Many of the poorest people in Pakistans Brick Kilns are forced by their circumstances to work in bonded labour to either pay off a loan or to just survive. No proper records are kept and for unknown reasons the debt seems to escalate ,entrapping the families for life. The UN has called it "Modern day Slavery." This is prevalent in the sectors of farming and especially the brick kilns. I know of one family whose debt was only E500 and they had been working there for ten years with the debt only escalating. This is not uncommon, but the norm. It is estimated there are over 18,000 brick kilns operating in Pakistan with 3.5 million bonded slave workers. A large percentage of this work force are children under 16, which contravenes Pakistans child labour laws. The more people are aware the more we can come together in one voice to condemn and bring about change to this social injustice. Please voice your opinions on social media and condemn this practice, and please check out the stories section above to see the kids story. As for now, we are dedicated to help the families and especially the children to bring the basics of a normal life until this shame on humanity is destroyed.
